It is always tough to say goodbye to a player, especially one who has been with the the Minnesota Wild for eleven years. Pierre-Marc, or Butch as we call him, was drafted by the Wild at 18 in 2002. Butch has been there and seen it all with the Wild from the conference final in 2003 to the Division champs in 2008. In 565 games, he amassed 347 points. Butch has had a history of concussions especially in the later years. He was out for a straight 14 months before putting the sweater back on. He was then again concussed in Dec 2011. He just did not seem to be the same player after that which is why along with other reasons, the Wild let him go I believe. Before the concussions, Butch was a force to be reckoned with. He was so fun to watch especially when he used the spin o rama move. He always had a smile for everyone and would say hello to kids sitting on the bench during warm ups. It’s hard seeing someone who has been with the team for so long leave but I believe that in the end, it will be best for both. Pierre-Marc can get a fresh start with the Islanders and the Wild can move up some of their young talent just waiting to play. So thank you Butch for the memories. You will always be remembered here with love and smiles. Good luck to you with your new team.
