Hello Kings fans and hockey fans. As we gear up for next season, fans have a very unique opportunity to get into the game themselves with the upcoming release of NHL 14. Featuring New Jersey Devil’s Goalie Martin Brodeur on the cover, after a hard fought online voting campaign, the game offers an improved gameplay and a better hitting engine, taken from FIFA Soccer and Fight Night, also by EA Games. (NBC Bay Area) The game has an upgrade to the advanced physics engine, better skating performance, one touch dekes, a new Enforcer Engine, and upgrades to the Be A Pro Career Mode. (EA Sports) A bonus, for fans of the original and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first release, is a revamp of NHL 94, complete with blue ice, the star, and as a new feature, fighting. (Puck Daddy) It will allow for some of the newer moves and the gameplay itself will have some major upgrades.
I’m excited about this new version of this game. I’m a big fan of the franchise and each game gives the player a new experience. One thing I’m most curious about is if there will be another Stanley Cup edition. The demo isn’t out quite yet but the videos look promising.
For Kings fans, another bonus is a new character, Cabbie Richards. He will be joining his brother on the LA Kings roster, wearing the number 12. (Although, he may have been deleted from the final product.) The release date is September 10th, 2013 for North America and September 13th for Europe. (IGN.com)
