It’s that time of the year again, NHL hockey dead zone. During July and August, it can be pretty quiet with nothing really going on. Hockey radio hosts take time off either having people replace them temporarily or airing older shows that you have heard more then once. The end of July and the free agent frenzy is no longer a frenzy but whispers and rumors with GM’s (for the most part) happy with their decisions. The NHL draft seems like ages ago. But one the most exciting things that happened during this years dead zone time was, participating country’s posting their camp invite list for the 2014 Ice Hockey Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
This year we had to wait a little longer then anyone liked, to find out if the NHL players would even be participating. When both sides agreed on a deal, camp invite lists came out flying. When these lists came out, naturally you look to see if any players from your favorite teams get a invite. This year nine red wings players were invited to three country’s Olympic team camps.
RUSSIA = Pavel Datsyuk
I hope all nine players get on the roster when February comes around. Not all players are guaranteed a spot on the team but, being invited to camp is a extraordinary thing. Also a big shout out to Coach Mike Babcock on his second term as Team Canada head coach!
