Allen Americans Report

Post by Melissa Grissom

The Allen Americans started off the new season in a new league.  The big move for the Allen Americans to the ECHL happened on October 7, 2014. Then on October 14, 2014, the Allen Americans announced that they have become the ECHL affiliates for the San Jose Sharks.  In the first game of the season, the Americans fell to the Tulsa Oilers in the 9-6 scorefest at the season opener. But they responded back the next day as they defeated the Wichita Thunder 5-3 for their first ever ECHL win.

The Americans will rest up and work on their game before they head out on a road trip to visit the Rapid City Rush at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for a 7:05 start.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Game 1: Americans Fall To Tulsa in a 9-6 Scorefest:

The Allen Americans raised their CHL banner from last season up into the rafters. It was a crazy and very lopsided game for the opener as both teams had no defense whatsoever. The Americans scored only six goals on 44 shots with goals by Greger Hanson with a  hat trick, Jack Combs, Brett Lyon and  Ian Schultz. Aaron Dell made 20 saves on the 27 shots he faced.

Game 2: Americans Beat Thunder 5-3 in First ECHL win

The Americans then traveled to Wichita to face the Thunder and it was a totally different game as they went out and beat the Thunder 5-3 in their first ECHL. Tyler Ludwig, Jamie Schaafsma, Gary Steffes with two goals and Ian Schultz were the goal scorers for the Americans. Aaron Dell made 19 saves on the 22 he faced in the game for his first win of the season.
