Could Kemba Walker Be Teaming Up With Another Point Guard Besides Lin?

The Hornets have six free agents (Nic Batum, Jeremy Lin, Marvin Williams, Al Jefferson,Courtney Lee and Tyler Hansbrough) in free agency this year and won’t be able to bring back all six. Lin has already opted out of his 2.1 M player option which makes him an unrestricted free agent, which means he can sign with any team without the Hornets matching the offer of the team Lin wants to sign with. Many expect everyone to resign besides Lin and Hansbrough. Will Kemba Walker be without Jeremy Lin in the 2016-2017 season?

Jeremy Lin was a huge factor for the Hornets as they went on to win 49 games. Lin came off the bench averaging 11.7 PPG, 3.0 APG and 3.2 RPG, which were definitely 6th Man of The Year caliber stats. Those stats even improved when Walker wasn’t on the court with Lin.

Lin with Walker: 3-for-9 (33.3%) on FG from 3-to-16 feet
Lin without Walker: 13-f0r-20 (65.0%) on FG from 3-to-16 feet

Lin with Walker: 4-for-18 (22.2%) from 3-point line
Lin without Walker: 12-for-33 (36.4%) from 3-point line

Just imagine what would happen if Lin was in a starting lineup with a stellar big man that could grab his misses and dish out passes to him. Jeremy Lin deserves a chance to start but not over Walker. I believe Lin signs elsewhere this off-season on a 3 year deal.

Lin will be missed by many of the Hornets players and by the Hornets fans if he decides to leave the team. Lin has stated that he,” would love to return [to play for the Hornets]”. Lin brings the team up if they aren’t doing their best, and he always comes into a game with the mentality to help Charlotte win.
