Imagine being an NBA team next season and seeing the Milwaukee Bucks are next on the schedule. There’s not going to be a collective sigh of relief as there usually has been. Instead it’ll be replaced with a collective, “Oh Boy…”
The Milwaukee Bucks are putting together their own version of a “Death Lineup” or in their case a “Death Team.” They could potentially trot out a lineup consisting of Michael Carter-Williams, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, and Greg Monroe.
Yes, I know that was their starting lineup last year and they weren’t particularly impressive. They led the league in paint points but were dead last in shooting from deep. How about we sub out MCW and move Giannis to Point Guard. A position head coach Jason Kidd was grooming him for all last season. We can then add the shooting and length of #10 overall pick Thon Maker in at the 4. Giannis, Middleton, Parker, Maker and Monroe. Now that has the potential to be a “Death Lineup”
The Golden State Warriors made that phrase popular this past season when they trotted out a lineup that was versatile enough to guard all the positions on the floor. They had no problems switching and they had no clear weaknesses.
With the aforementioned lineup for the Bucks, they can put a team on the floor that sports the following wingspans: 7’3, 6’10. 75”, 6’11. 75”, 7’3 and 7’2. 25.” These guys are all athletic players who have the length and quickness to cover from sideline to sideline.
Unlike most teams in the NBA, like for arguments sake the Sacramento Kings, the Bucks have their vision and are molding their team to fit that identity. Their head coach Jason Kidd is one of the most versatile players to ever play the game and they are building a team with players that have similar skill sets that a multi-talented physical freaks.
This is one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA and their fan base should be ecstatic about their ceiling for next season. All I have are three words to describe their team next season, LEAGUE PASS ALERT!
