Saturday’s trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings made it very clear which direction the Eagles were heading in. After agreeing to a deal that would send quarterback Sam Bradford to the Vikings, it became very clear that the Eagles were going all in on their first round draft pick, Carson Wentz.
Multiple reports confirmed this prediction Saturday afternoon as a source was informed by the Eagles that as soon as Wentz was healthy that he would be the new starter.
NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, noted that fellow Eagles quarterback Chase Daniel was “extremely upset” when told of the decision. After backing up Bradford all summer, the veteran fully expected to take over the starting job.
If healthy enough, Wentz will make his regular season debut against the Cleveland Browns, the team that traded the number two pick to the Eagles in the 2016 draft.
