NFL: Week 4 Preview

Week 3 of the NFL season lived up to the hype and featured one of the best matchups of the season.  Norman/Beckham Jr: The Rematch was an incredible performance and it literally had Beckham Jr. in tears at the end.  The Redskins came back and defeated the Giants 29-27 in a game that had the kicking net needing stitches.

Week 4 should be loaded as well.

We kick things off on Thursday Night Football in Cincinnati when the Bengals host the Miami Dolphins.  The Dolphins are coming off of an overtime victory against the Cleveland Browns in a game that featured many missed opportunities for both teams.  The Bengals are looking to bounce back after an extremely hard fought loss against the defending champion Broncos.  If the Bengals want to keep their playoff hopes alive this is a game that they need to win to get back to .500.  In the AFC North, to start the season 1-3 would all but eliminate them from the big dance in January.  The Dolphins did not have high expectations for this season but they have showed some promise in the past couple of weeks for the future.  Ryan Tannehill needs to do a better job making smart decisions if he wants to live up to the massive $77 million contract.

The Buffalo Bills are coming off of a massive win at home against the Arizona Cardinals in a game that was dominated by the defense.  Rex’s Bills had Cardinals’ quarterback Carson Palmer on the ropes for the entire game and came up with 6 interceptions.  They travel to New England to face the Patriots in the final game without their fearless leader Tom Brady.  With the thumb injury to quarterback Jacoby Brissett last Thursday against the Texans, there was some speculation if he would even be able to play this week.  He and Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) were both practicing on Tuesday which means that they both should be healthy enough to play on Sunday.  And with 10 days of preparation, Bill Belichick will be ready for anything that the Bills throw at New England.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers face off after two complete opposite performances in week 3.  The Chiefs forced 6 Ryan Fitzpatrick interceptions in a 24-3 rout of the New York Jets, and the Steelers want to forget the debacle in Philadelphia last week when they lost the Pennsylvania state championship 34-3.  The Steelers do have some life as they get their feature back, Le’veon Bell, back from his 3 game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy.  DeAngelo Williams is coming off of his worst game of the season (8 carries, 21 yards) and adding Bell’s ability to catch passes out of the backfield will only help Ben Roethlisberger spread the field for Antonio Brown down the field.  Jamaal Charles has been working his way back and Andy Reid has said that there is a chance that he will be available this coming Sunday.  I don’t see Charles getting the amount of reps that he is used to, but Spencer Ware has done a good enough job in his absence that it should not hurt to get him back out there.
