In a season that has been bad news after bad news for the Chicago Bears, it continues to get worse.
The NFL announced Monday morning that receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games without pay after violating the NFL’s policy performance, enhancing substances.
Jeffery’s suspension begins immediately. Jeffery will be eligible to return to the Bears following the Detroit Lions game on December 11th.
“We’re very disappointed,” Bears head coach John Fox said. “He’s fairly embarrassed about it. We’ll support him and welcome him back after serving his suspension.”
Jeffery has 40 receptions for 630 yards and a touchdown for the season thus far.
Fantasy outlook: With Jeffery now out of the lineup for the next four games, receiver Cameron Meredith should see a nice increase in looks in the Bears offense. He’ll also have some favorable matchups coming his way as well, with the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions.
