The Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes are heating up once again.
Last week league sources told DYST that Anthony would waive his no-trade clause for four teams; the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Then Wednesday, the Cavaliers and Knicks were in discussions to bring Anthony to Cleveland, at LeBron James’ request.
Now according to The Vertical, the Knicks have reached out to the Clippers and Celtics to probe their interest in a trade involving Anthony.
League sources told DYST, that the likely destination for an Anthony trade (If it happens) is the Boston Celtics. The reason for the Celtics being the favorite, is that they have so much more to offer than the Cavaliers and the Clippers.
They would go onto add that a trade around Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Amir Johnson (expiring deal), and future picks (not the Nets pick this year) could get it done.
If the Knicks and Clippers were to work a deal out, it would likely be centered around Blake Griffin. But more than likely a third team would jump into that deal and the third team would get Griffin and the Knicks would get a package of youth, picks and expiring deals.
