The New York Jets are moving on from another star player Thursday. After cutting, Nick Mangold and Darrelle Revis, the Jets are also releasing wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
According to sources, this was at the request of Marshall.
Marshall was scheduled to make $7.5 million in 2017. The newly listed free agent is still a playmaker and is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
Marshall, who will turn 33 later on this month, is coming off of one of his worst seasons of his career. He finished 2016 with, 59 catches, 788 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The New York Jets rebuild has officially begun.
