The Philadelphia Eagles are taking care of what was one of their biggest weaknesses in 2016 on the opening day of NFL free agency, and that was their wide receiver’s.
First, they agreed to terms with Torrey Smith.
And then a few minutes after the 4 p.m. start of the league’s new year, the Eagles signed Alshon Jeffery to a one-year, $14 million deal.
Jeffery, whose been hindered by injuries the past two seasons, is an elite receiver and if he can stay healthy, his addition to Philadelphia could make them an NFC contender.
The Eagles explored several options this off-season, one being Terrelle Pryor and the other New Orleans Saints, Brandin Cooks. However, when trade talks between the Saints and Eagles broke down, the Eagles pursued Jeffery.
