Penguins 2017 Prospect Camp Update

The Pittsburgh Penguins opened up their 2017 Prospect Camps this week which included a return of Kevin “Artie” Stevens.   Here is some quotes from Kevin yesterday.

How does it feel to be back?

“It’s nice, I feel good now.  I feel happy now. I had some ups and downs.  I happy to be here, do what I can do to help. ” “I love Hockey, it’s been a big part of my life.”

Did Mark Recchi calls you?  When did you talk?

“I love Rechs… We talk all the time… he asked me if I’d like to come and help out… and I said yes.”

How’s this compare to home?

“I love coming back here, I feel very relaxed, very at home.  I love the people here. I call this my second home, it’s where I would like to be…Boston is my home, but I would love to Be Here. ”

As far as the play goes, Mark Recchi has the guys working including NCAA scoring leader Zach Aston Reese.  Recchi is excited about this guy and is happy to have him in camp.  Zach played 10 games at Wilkes Barre before the playoffs and he said he learned the closer you get to the NHL the harder it is. Biggest thing he noticed guys are a lot stronger, quicker, and everyone is better.

Daniel Sprong is someone who has been in Jr’s for 4 seasons and in those 4 seasons he has tallied 117 goals in 199 games.  The offense has always been there but the quest now is to work on the defensive side of the puck to become a more complete player.  That is what he is working on at this camp and it’s something he has tried to work on this year because he knew it was his last season there to prepare for the jump to the NHL next year.
