The Pittsburgh Steelers roll into their dormitories for the 52nd consecutive year Thursday, July 27 at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The first practice at Chuck Noll Field gets underway Friday, July 28 at 2:55 p.m.
Starting with the opening practice Friday, July 28 till Friday, Aug. 18, the fans from around the region can enjoy a total of 16 practices open to the public, 14 at Saint Vincent College.
Over the first weekend of training camp, the Black and Gold have their inaugural Steelers Charity Walk Saturday, July 29, to benefit the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research at Saint Vincent College. Serving as the honorary co-chairs for the event are Steeler legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Joe Greene, and the son of former Steeler and Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Webster, Garrett.
Greene talks about his memories of playing for Coach Noll at 8:30 a.m. at Chuck Noll Field. The start of the walk is 9 a.m. and goes around the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail on the Saint Vincent grounds. Afterward, everyone who takes part can watch the Steelers’ morning practice. One camp event sold out is the 2017 Steelers Women’s Training Camp, Sunday, July 30, presented by Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.
Another date for Steelers Country to keep in mind is Sunday, Aug. 6 as Pittsburgh holds their first ever open training camp practice at Heinz Field for Family Fest. The happening is 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and admission is $10 for all fans.
When the time arrives to line up on the gridiron, head coach Mike Tomlin and the Men of Steel went 1-3 during the preseason in 2016. Tomlin’s overall record since 2007 in exhibition action is 22-20.
