(NEW YORK, NY) July 26, 2017 — BIG3 announced today that Trilogy’s Rashad McCants has been named Player of the Week following his second consecutive game with more than 20 points and a hot shooting outing to keep his team undefeated.
“Week 5 featured another strong game from Power’s Cuttino Mobley and the full offensive repertoire of 3 Headed Monster’s Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, but Rashad McCants recorded the best performance of the day to lead all players in scoring in front of a sold-out crowd,” said BIG3 President & Commissioner Roger Mason Jr.
Rashad McCants, the No. 1 Pick in the inaugural BIG3 Draft, continues to make his mark on the league with his high energy, impressive offense, and aggressive defense. With captain Al Harrington having a quiet game and Trilogy in need of a leader, McCants stepped up in Chicago to score 27 points on 65% shooting (11-17) with three 3-pointers and pulled down 8 rebounds (Video Highlights). The former NCAA Champion with the University of North Carolina and Minnesota Timberwolves first round draft pick is coming into form as his team pushes to solidify its top spot for the playoffs. Over the past three weeks, McCants has averaged 22 points on 71% shooting and more than two made 3-pointers per game.
In Dallas for Week 6 at the American Airlines Center (2 p.m. CT), McCants and Trilogy (5-0) will take the court against the Ghost Ballers (3-2) and its scoring duo of captain Mike Bibby and co-captain Ricky Davis in a potential playoff preview. The afternoon’s first game will feature a must-win contest between Stephen Jackson’s Killer 3s (1-4) and Brian Scalabrine’s Ball Hogs (1-4) as both teams fight to make it into the playoff conversation.
Captain Rashard Lewis and 3 Headed Monsters (4-1) look to take down Tri-State (1-4) and Dr. J who will work to coach his team to its second victory of the season. In the weekend’s final matchup, former Dallas Maverick and NBA Champion DeShawn Stevenson returns to the court following another game-winning 3-pointer in Week 5 as Power (4-1) pushes for a top postseason position against Allen Iverson’s 3’s Company (1-4) and Andre Owens.
