The BIG3 league hit Dallas for week six of the season with some teams qualifying for the playoffs and apparently some players forgetting that they had a game.
GAME 1:Killer 3s (50, 2-4) vs. Ball Hogs (40, 1-5)
In the game that meant so much for both it was clear that the Killer 3s came to win. Chauncey Billups returned after missing the last two games. Stephen Jackson gave us the kind of night that we all know he is capable of. He had 23 points to accompany Evans 15 points and 18 rebounds. Ball Hogs coach and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Rick Barry invited fellow Hall of Famer Nancy “Lady Magic” Lieberman to be assistant coach for the game.
GAME 2: 3 Headed Monsters (50; 5-1) vs. Tri-State (45; 1-5)
Dr.J and his Tri-State team have not had the season that man were hoping for and this week it finally looked as if they were going to compete as they got off to an early lead. 3 Headed Monsters fought back quickly though with Rashard Lewis putting in another 25 points in helping his team to a 50-45 win. Abdul-Rauf put in 14 in yet another solid performance this week. 3 Headed Monsters secured a playoff spot and made a statement that they are one of the top teams in the entire league.
GAME 3: Trilogy (51; 6-0) vs. Ghost Ballers (36; 3-3)
There isn’t much left to be said about Trilogy. This team literally has everything and almost no other team in the league can even put a fight up against them. Al Harrington, James White, and Rashad McCants all hit double digits again and the team routed Ghost Ballers 51-36. Mike Bibby attempted to get inside their head but White was right there firing back at him and backing it up with his game.
GAME 4: 3’s Company (53; 2-4) vs. Power (49; 4-2)
In the most shocking part of the night Allen Iverson, 3’s Company’s Coach and player, did not show up for the game. It is not yet known the reason why he was absent but there are rumors starting to swirl that he was seen gambling late into the night in Illinois. It did not matter though as his team fought to a comeback win off of the back of Andre Owens. Owens poured in 25 points and coupled that with 11 rebounds. Al Thornton had his first good performance of the year helping the team with 16 points. DeShawn Stevenson hit the biggest shot of the night, a 4 point shot when his team was down 48-43. 3’s Company had already hit the 50 point mark but needed to win by 2 and it was Owens who stepped up and hit the three pointer to win the game for 3’s company and earned the team’s second win of the season.
The BIG3 heads to Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY for week seven and hopefully all the players will show up for this week.
