Boxing At Mountaineer Casino: Preview Of 2017 Labor Day Eve Fights

Live Championship Boxing is back in New Cumberland, West Virginia Sunday, Sept. 3, as Angelo Magnone and Made Men Promotions brings another event to the Speakeasy Ballroom at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack, and Resort.

Participating in the main event is 32-year-old undefeated Super Middleweight Joey Holt (7-0-0, 6 KOs) from East Liverpool, Ohio against Josh Fisher (4-3-0, 2 KOs). of Bellaire, Ohio. It is an eight round matchup.

In his last bout, Holt picked up a victory by technical knockout in the fourth round over Crystal, Minnesota, southpaw Damien Hill (4-11-0, 0 KO) Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Mountaineer Casino’s Shamrock Showdown card. Fischer, also 32, lost in his last meeting by knockout in the second round to DeAndre Ware  (8-0-2, 6 KOs) Saturday, Aug 26, 2016, at Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington, PA.

The vacant WBC FECARBOX and WBA Fedelatin Super Middleweight titles will be on the line when 20-year-old Bobby Gunn Jr. (8-0-0, 6 KOs) of Hackensack, NJ steps through the ropes to engage 44-year-old southpaw Mike Miranda (44-6-0, 40 KOs) of Santos, São Paulo, Brazil.

His last time out, Gunn claimed a technical knockout in the fourth round on Friday, May 27, 2016, over Guy Packer (5-45-2, 2 KOs) in Indianapolis, IN.  Per Brian Whan of Youngstown Boxing News, the young pugilist is the son of renowned US bare-knuckled fighter, Bobby Gunn. Miranda recorded a first round knockout Saturday, March 19, 2016, against Mauricio Gaboa (2-2-0, 1 KO) back in São Paulo, Brazil.

Fans of the heavyweights can see Knoxville, Ohio’s Nelson Best (2-0-0, 2 KOs) take on Ashland, Kentucky’s Nick Messer (1-2-0, 1 KO). Best marshaled a third round knockout Saturday, June 10, 2017, over Timothy Eric Dunn (0-8-1, 0 KO) at Crooked Dock in Wellsburg, WV. Messer lost by unanimous decision Saturday, July 15, 2017, to Marquis Valentine (4-1-0, 1 KO) in Lima, Ohio.

Steubenville, Ohio’s Branko Busick, 27, is ready to make his cruiserweight début versus 38-year-old Michael Bogner from Tiffin, Ohio. Both combatants have Mixed Martial Arts experience on their side.

Montana Love (6-0-0, 3 KOs) of Cleveland, Ohio answers the bell to test his southpaw skills in a Super Welterweight bout with Jamar Saunders (5-15-1, 2 KOs) from Atlanta, GA. The 22-year-old Love seized a third round technical knockout Friday, June 9, 2017, over Jorge Luis Munguia (12-10-0, 4 KOs) in Stone Mountain, GA. Saunders, 32, lost a four round unanimous decision Sunday, Jan 31, 2016, to Jesus Lule (11-23-1, 2 KOs) in Immokalee, FL.
