The drama continues to unfold here during champ week. Mid-major favorite Middle Tennessee State bows out of its conference tournament and is likely heading to the NIT. Collin Sexton saves Alabama’s season with a buzzer beater layup to stay alive in the SEC tournament. Kansas State took down TCU in overtime and Providence held off Creighton, both likely securing spots in the field because of their wins. As it stands, it looks like we could be down to four teams fighting for three spots in Texas, Marquette, Louisville, and Alabama. Fighting is a strong word for the situation as Alabama is the only team who will play at least one more game before Sunday; they take on Auburn at 1 pm today. Now the committee could see things differently as so many of these teams have such similar resumes but it seems there are very few teams left to decipher between for the final few spots in the field. Outside of the bubble, we have some great semi-final matchups tonight. In the ACC, Virginia will take on Clemson and Duke will face North Carolina in a season grudge match in that classic rivalry. In the Big 12, Kansas will face TCU while West Virginia will take on Texas Tech. And in the Big East, Villanova will take on Butler while Providence will look to continue to bolster its tournament resume versus Xavier. These semi-final matchups could set up some great championship games on Saturday.
