Browns Joe Thomas announces retirement

After several great additions this offseason the Cleveland Browns received rather disappointing news Wednesday. Left tackle, Joe Thomas announced his retirement after 11 seasons.

Thomas made 167 consecutive starts for the Browns after being drafted No. 3 overall in the 2007 draft and was an eight-time All-Pro. He never missed a snap before tearing his triceps last October, and that will go down as his final NFL play. It’s unfortunate that we won’t be able to see Thomas actually play with some surrounding talent as the Browns added Jarvis Landry, Tyrod Taylor and signed Carlos Hyde Wednesday morning.

Offensive tackle, Chris Hubbard, who the Browns signed on Tuesday will likely replace Thomas’ spot in the starting lineup.

Thomas is certainly headed for both the Browns’ Ring of Honor and the Hall of Fame.
