Chiefs Acquire Kendall Fuller from Washington

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has acquired CB Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round draft pick via trade with the Washington Redskins for QB Alex Smith.

“We’re excited to have Kendall join our secondary,” Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach said. “He’s an ascending player with strong cover skills and a phenomenal work ethic. He’ll add value and versatility to our defense.”

Fuller (5-11, 198) played in 29 games (12 starts) in two seasons with the Washington Redskins, logging 94 tackles (74 solo), including two for a loss, four interceptions, 12 passes defensed and a forced fumble. The Baltimore, Maryland, native entered the league as a third-round pick (84th overall) by Washington in the 2016 NFL Draft. Fuller played collegiately at Virginia Tech, where he saw action in 29 games (28 starts), recording 119 tackles (73 solo), 3.5 sacks, eight interceptions, 35 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In his three seasons with the Hokies, Fuller earned All-ACC and All- American honors.
