The Detroit Lions have decided that they’re going release tight end Eric Ebron.
The move had to be made today before 4 PM ET if the Lions were going to save his $8 million-plus salary from becoming guaranteed. The Lions tried to trade Ebron for really anything, but were unsuccessful.
Ebron, who hasn’t even turned 25 yet will certainly have a market as teams could use a tight end or the depth. The Lions drafted Ebron with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. An expectation that he hasn’t lived up to as the Lions passed on LT Taylor Lewan, WR Odell Beckham, and DT Aaron Donald, who were selected consecutively at numbers 11-13.
