Sleeper teams to watch in the NCAA Tournament

With Championship week coming to a close and Selection Sunday nearing, we’re starting to carve out the final 68 teams that will take the stage next week. That’s right America, March Madness is back. With that being said here’s a list of some valuable March Madness teams overshadowed by the favorites, that I believe will carve out a nice run in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

Kansas (24-8):
I know this name doesn’t sound like a “Sleeper Team” and they probably wouldn’t be in this article either if they didn’t lose big man, Udoka Azubuike for the remainder of the season. However, the Jayhawks are in unfamiliar waters this season as they lost the regular season BIG 12 title for the first time in 14 years.

Though despite losing that streak, I think the BIG 12 Tournament (Which will be held in Kansas City) will prime the Jayhawks for another deep Tournament run.

Murray State 27-4:
If you haven’t heard of Ja Morant yet this season, well then you’re living under a rock. 24.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 10 assists per game yes this kid is the real deal. And if it weren’t for Zion Williamson, then you’d most likely be looking at this year’s number one overall draft pick. Yeah…he’s that good.

Now yes one great player isn’t going to win multiple games by himself but they’ll certainly help. Luckily for Murray State they have the help. With three other scorers in double figures and great Senior leadership from Shaq Buchanan, make sure to watch out for the Racers.

Michigan State 25-6:
How could you not put Tom Izzo and his team in this conversation? Despite what happens during the regular season, come March, Izzo always has his team in order and playing well. Another reason why I like the Spartans is, Cassius Winston. Averaging, 19.1 points and 7.6 assists per game and according to some Oddsmakers, Winston is one of the most impactful players when talking the spread throughout College Basketball.

North Carolina 27-5:
The North Carolina Tar Heels have been overlooked the entire season due to the Zion Williamson and Duke’s future NBA team. However, if you really paid attention you’d realize that North Carolina isn’t that far off and might even be better than Blue Devils.

North Carolina defeated the Blue Devils twice this season and are a true contender as they have great Senior leadership from Luke Maye and Cameron Johnson. Though this team is truly at it’s best when their young players; Nassir Little and Coby White take over games.
