This week’s matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the New England Patriots will have a much different feel to it than it did a couple of weeks ago. After two losing seasons in a row under head coach Jon Gruden, there was no telling where year three was going to go. But winning a shootout in week one against the Carolina Panthers and winning by 10 over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night has Raider fans feeling like it’s their year.
Derek Carr has looked phenomenal and running back Josh Jacobs looks like he’s an every down back and more. Though the one key for the Raiders is their offensive line. With Derrick Carr going head to head against Cam Newtow, one interesting bet is Raiders total points over 21.5 at (-110). The Saints defense showed up in week one forcing two interceptions, a forced fumble, three sacks and got hits on Brady six times. On Monday night they were still able to force three sacks but were unable to force any turnovers. And those three sacks came on the Raiders first two drives. After that the offensive line adjusted to the Saints pass rush and shut them down the rest of the game. But yet no one is talking about that? This is going to sound obvious but the key to stopping the Raiders is disrupting their offensive line and if you can’t do that then you’re going to be in for a long day.
As for the New England Patriots they look amazing, even with a close loss to the Seahawks. Cam Newton is playing like MVP Cam Newton and it looks like another year of a dominate Patriots team. Their defense looks good with four interceptions and one of those a pick six on the year so far. But if you really look into the numbers they did that against a Ryan Fitzpatrick who never has a good first game and a Seahawks offensive line that isn’t all that good.
The Raiders and the Patriots both look like better teams than expected but the Raiders will get the upset yet again on Sunday. Sure travel could play a roll as the Raiders aren’t the best team traveling from the West Coast to the East Coast but this Raiders offensive line is a problem and no one is talking about it.
My Bets:Raiders Total Points over 21.5
Josh Jacobs over total rushing yards
Josh Jacobs anytime scorer
Julian Edelman anytime scorer
